Celebrating commendable contribution of the torchbearers of education which are teachers, principals and schools, Times of India & RoboChamps India hosted the second edition of Indian School Awards this 4th August 2018. The event saw 300 school leaders come together at beautiful campus of Chitkara University, Punjab to share thoughts through talks, panel discussion and networking session.
The event was inaugurated by Amit Sood, Chief Manager TOI ; Akshay Ahuja, Founder RoboChamps India ; Dr. Niyati Chitkara, Principal Chitkara International School ; Retd. Lt. Col. Rakesh Sharma, Associate Director Admin Chitkara University and Dr. Varinder Kanwar, Vice-Chancellor Chitkara University, Himachal Pradesh. After the lamp lighting, Team RoboChamps India and Times of India welcomed all the schools who have travelled across the nation to attend this conference cum award show. This was followed by quick sessions from our speakers Mr. Harshpal Khurana, Founder Tabschool ; Dr. Rajnish Sharma, Dean CURIN Chitkara University and Dr. Shabana Urooj, Chairperson of Educational Activity Board of IEEE Delhi Sections with a focus of Technology, Research and Engineering current education scenario.
After a short networking tea break the speaker sessions continued with Mr. Mitul Dikshit, Chairman Dikshant Schools and Mr. Aditya Kulkarni, Director of School Programs RoundGlass speaking on how learning can transform in future and how well being is current need of hour. Marking the afternoon, Chitkara University hosted the lunch for all delegates present.
Back from the lunch, delegates witnessed a stunning conversation between four of our panelists Mrs. Kavita C. Das, Principal St. John’s High School Chandigarh ; Dr. Niyati Chitkara, Principal Chitkara International School ; Ms. Neha Kashyap, Principal MM International School and Mr. Siddhartha Kumar, Partner Dua Associates that was moderated by Mr. Sumeer Walia, Director CEED. Panelists faced some serious but never asked questions in the world of education, while some questions were faced to the crowd. After the panel discussion, event approached to the final set of speakers which were Mrs. Vineeta Rajput, Principal The Millennium School Patiala and Mrs. Kavita C. Das, Principal St. John’s High School Chandigarh who put lights on issues to be solved, Teacher’s responsibility for grooming of students and Education for Economically Weaker Section and Children With Special Needs.
Speaker session came to and end on a high note as Mr. Akshay Ahuja, Founder of RoboChamps India congratulated everyone who’ve come to the event and focussed on the need to develop the theoretical education system to more ‘hands on’ system. This event also marked the announcement of International School Awards 2018.
After the speaker sessions the moment all school representatives were waiting for came, the award ceremony. The ceremony was graced by guest of honor, Dr. Madhu Chitkara, Vice Chancellor of Chitkara University Panjab, who alongside Mr. Rajesh Batra, Founder Chhapai ; Mr. Akshay Ahuja and Mr. Amit Sood handed out awards to winners and ended with a final note from our host of the day, Madhukar Malhotra.
